Let’s Scoot Around Town! Find Out How Ford is Changing Mobility Choices

Earlier this year, Ford created Ford X which is a division within Ford Smart Mobility, LLC. Ford wants to quickly build and pilot new transportation products and services to keep up with the busy lives of students, working professionals, and anyone else who needs a quick lift. One example is Ford’s micro-mobility academic research project with Purdue University that began Jelly scooters.

Ford is excited to accelerate their efforts to provide micro-mobility solutions with the acquisition of Spin. Spin is a dockless electric scooter sharing company based out of San Francisco, CA. They are a leading micro-mobility service provider with operations in 13 cities and campuses across the United States.

Spin adds an exciting new offering to Ford’s mobility portfolio and are trying to help customers get places more quickly without breaking the bank. Using a Spin electric scooter costs $1 to rent and 15 cents per minute after that. By using Spin, people are able to avoid traffic congestion, parking availability and pollution.

Ford plans on extending Spin’s services to 100 cities across the US. Spin launched its services in Detroit on November 8th, 2018.

At Fairway Ford, we’re excited to see the changes Ford's Smart Mobility division will make. For more updates on what’s happening in the Ford community, please reach out to our dealership and we’ll gladly answer any questions you may have!
